The reclaimed kitchen island or butcher block style unit can be the heart of the kitchen area and can be used more than the standard kitchen worktops especially when used in conjunction with a floating pan & utensil rack above and extra storage below. They can be used as a workstation, storage, seating or eating area depending upon size and requirements.

Solid Wood Reclaimed Kitchen Island in Butcher Block Style.

Crafted from solid reclaimed, distressed timber and usually with a chunky pine top although we have made them with other timber tops including reclaimed Oak and Beech for example when available and in stock.

The timber butcher block style top is in most cases made from narrow full stave pieces of timber to reduce warping and then crafted into a functional top and then given the appearance of extra thick and extra wide planks for that traditional style look but allowing for an easier to clean and maintain surface. The top will be treated with Danish oil for protection and will require ongoing treatment to maintain its look and resistance to moisture and will give an overall  visible chunky thickness of 50-60mm which is pleasing to the eye and overall look of the piece.
